Roadtrip 04:05
ROADTRIP Departure early in the morning At the break of dawn navigating east They were eager and curious About what’s to come At the snack bar right behind the border They treated themselves to coffee and some sweets And as the landscape was rushing by They left everything behind That’s when they fell Out of time and space Skipping history Blending sceneries At a record pace Through the looking glass They saw themselves Standing by the sea They danced to imaginary music Played with the missing cards And as the night fell down They buried the crown That’s when they fell Standing in the fields

FUNNY SHAPED BALLOONS I sprinkle little drops Onto your rooftop Slowly they’ll sink in Until you like me And funny shaped balloons Throughout the afternoon They will make you smile Although you don’t like me Our story hasn’t been an easy one We never met on the same run While you were walking in, I left the room So it goes When I was curious you were somewhere else Searching for higher places And when you came back I was caught up in a dream When I landed on your planet it was empty Your radar system out of control Your sun was shining when I just lowered my blinds I wrap you up in thoughts of Pine trees and mountain tops And promise I’ll be ready for you to like me Will you like me?

HOW IS YOUR WORLD TODAY We met at a crossroad in springtime Those were days of joy I remember the sound of laughter But when my bus arrived We had to say goodbye How is your world today? Everything looks different I suppose And what are you up to today Do you sometimes think of me? What‘s going on in your bubble? Are your friends treating you kind? Is there something growing in your garden? What makes you happy? What makes you sad? Carefree days Liberty

HEAVENLY MADE No honey on my fingertips There seems to be no chocolate left for the cookies The noodle stew tastes rather stale Even the soup looks fairly pale It’s a bore And so I turn the radio on They keep on playing the same song I feel gritty Blood and thunder in the news I’m sinking deeper into blues It’s a pity, oh my Found no solution on the internet I made it to the very end Wondering What all the colours and the blinking signs Are trying to convince me of Blinding So I lace up my hiking boots And take a long walk through the woods Got the feeling There must be something more Heavenly made Is a label I’d sure like to see Open the gate and leave the earth behind In a resurrection zeppelin How is the day with the world to watch all submarine Meanwhile here I’m back to square one
5.
Exit Ahead 02:44
EXIT AHEAD On top of the craziest wave The captain screamed: hold on No sighs, no caramel Can save you from looking ahead Ooh, ooh, ooh the water Ooh, ooh, ooh the ebb and the flow Row, row gently down the stream Leave all these furious waves behind With the drunken sailors You know there‘s no turning back Exit ahead Beneath the skies and the sea A little dot paddling on That‘s me I used to be disturbed But now I‘m fancy free Oh, oh, oh with the birds Oh, oh, oh with clouds and the sunbeams It‘s the same direction With a different view It‘s a single note that‘s changing
6.
Naturally 04:02
NATURALLY You dig in the dirt Try to find some words Put them in a phrase Set the house on fire Let the bird on the wire sing If it doesn‘t come naturally You better leave it alone Climb up on the roof You‘ve got to prove There is more to life Take the fire escape Let the bird in the cage sing
7.
MEET THE HORNS There is an ancient melody Stuck in your soul And if you listen carefully You might be humming along And there‘s this certain chemistry When you tap your toe to the beat `Cause when it all comes down to it We‘re just the same Up and down this universe The sparkles in our ears Make us want to join in And oh, all around this globe The melody it goes And it keeps coming back
8.
THE FOREST SONG We live in the forest Close to the river The water runs deep Every morning I start to recount the trees Add and subtract Put it in my diary I go through all of this After you left for the city Only the sound of the passing planes Reminds me of this world gone mad If you only compare Abstract and declare Long enough It might all make some sense In the meantime, while the rooster crows I‘m climbing up a hill The smell of fire in the air And the clouds Couldn‘t pass soon enough I‘m sitting down by the river Watching the waves disappear
9.
THE LAST NOTE She used to be one of the wild ones Played with the coolest cats in town Now underneath the chandelier Her silver hair, the evening gown It was the last note She would ever play And she played it with all her might It was the last line She would ever cross The fire had gone astray Every phrase like an old friend A little world within itself But each story must come to an end And so she picked up For her final refrain

about

An album that works like a seduction: On «How Is Your World Today», Swiss singer-songwriter Gabriela Krapf plays with attraction and distance. Today's digital experience might promise instant gratification. Krapfs soulful jazz pop stirs excitement and stays cool.

Verses filled with atmosphere of departure are followed by great and large-scale choruses – but nothing gets fluffed up here. The band (a pianist, three horns and a rhythm section) simply intensifies the groove shortly, the singer breaks out in emotion, and everyone is already playing tight again. That's the charm in this music: the restrained push for greatness.

Krapf already made waves with her earlier bands Lobith and The Homestories. For «How Is Your World Today», she composed, arranged and produced most of the songs herself. The singer displays her wide range of expression, tender and powerful, melancholy and joyous, virtuous and sentimental. The potent band accompanies her with effortless drive. That's what music sounds like that has not been created over months in front of a a screen, but recorded live over three days with a lot of passion. And that's how we like to be seduced.
